2014 Golden Globes - Black (Part II)

Black, as always, was a favourite for many stars at last night's Golden Globe Awards.

Jessica Chastain created a bombshell look in her custom black Givenchy dress.  The pattern on the dress created wonderful curves for the red headed actress, who wore her locks in retro manner and finished the look with a stunning Bulgari necklace.

Tina Fey & Amy Poehler, who hosted the night, looked lovely for their red carpet turn. Tina wowed in a black Carolina Herrera ballgown with a pink floral print while Amy took a more streamlined approach with her Stella McCartney dress.

Hayden Panettiere, who was nominated for her role in 'Nashville', chose a sexy Tom Ford dress.  While I appreciated the risk the blonde actress took, something about the look ages her and looks dated. I also wasn't a fan of the footwear.

Lizzy Caplan from 'Masters of Sex' looked amazing and empowering in her Emilio Pucci Spring 2014 dress. I absolutely love the glimmering metallic sleeves, which at full length are slightly unexpected and the cut-out neckline as well. A pin-up style hairdo, Bionda Castana heels and a Rauwolf clutch finished her look.

Zoe Saldana chose to go the cocktail dress way in her Prabal Gurung Spring 2014 dress. Opinions are always divided when we see a dress that is not a gown on the red carpet.  In this instance, while I adore this embellished dress by itself and on Zoe, I wish she had saved it for an after-party.  Call me traditional but there just isn't anything like a beautiful gown on the red carpet at an awards function.

Uma Thurman attended the awards this year as a presenter in her Atelier Versace dress. Uma can be a bit unpredictable when it comes to the red carpet; her gown featured a high-neck, black top and a silk gray skirt, which was all fine but we know Uma can do better!

Allison Williams wore Alexander McQueen. There's nothing I do not like about her fun, youthful look even if the dress plays within the black and white boundaries.

Julia Roberts looked beautiful.  Her Dolce & Gabbana dress, worn over a crisp white shirt might irk some but I thought it was one of her most elegant looks yet. I loved the various textures here and her classic updo finished it all of rather nicely.

Julia's niece Emma Roberts attended the awards this year looking absolutely stunning in a Lanvin gown with a beautiful off-shoulder neckline. As has been popular before, she paired her black gown with bright, eye-catching turquoise earrings and I was a big fan of her make-up.
